Welcome to Chasing the Cheese!

Too often, cheese lovers in the Peterborough area lament that ‘If you want really good cheese, you have to go to Toronto to get it… or France’. My goal is to change that by offering a broad range of quality and artisan cheese from across Canada and beyond. I bring quality cheese to eager cheese lovers in the Peterborough region. I aim to expose people to both great and humble cheeses that they might not otherwise have an opportunity to try at home. I offer an educational element to those who want to experience another layer of the cheese world. These are simple pleasures, that should be satisfied.

Over the last few years there has been a dramatic increase in small-scale cheese making across Canada. Many new small producers are creating fabulous artisan and farmstead cheeses. As part of this positive trend Ontario is returning to its dairy heritage. At its height the Ontario cheese industry had hundreds of small producers scattered around the province creating fine quality cheeses. Chasing the Cheese celebrates this heritage and the new and creative cheeses coming from Ontario. However, it is not the aim to exclude the many other wonderful offerings from afar. For this reason, you’ll see a wide variety of local, regional and national cheeses from across the country and beyond available on my list.

While my selections vary month to month, my goals remain steadfast. I am not an out-of-reach expert, but an individual who knows what she likes and wants to share it with others. In most cases, the cheese speaks for itself but it’s my job to celebrate and promote it. Please join me as I continue Chasing the Cheese.
